Rediscovering the Economics of Keynes in an Agent-Based Computational Setting

چکیده

The aim of this paper is to use agent-based computational economics to explore the economic thinking of Keynes. Taking his starting point at the macroeconomic level, Keynes argued that economic systems are characterized by fundamental uncertainty an uncertainty that makes rule-based behaviour and reliance on monetary magnitudes more optimal to the economic agent than profitand utility optimization in the traditional sense. Unfortunately more systematic studies of the properties of such a system was not possible at the time of Keynes. The system envisioned by Keynes holds a lot of properties in commen with what we today call complex dynamic systems, and today we may apply the method of agent-based computational economics to the ideas of Keynes. The presented agent-based Keynesian model demonstrate, as argued by Keynes, that the economy can selforganize without relying on price movement as an equilibrating factor. In our implementation selforganization does, however, not mean a steady long run equilibrium, but a tendency to generate cycles.

Analysis of the Evolutionary Game Theory in Agent-Based Computational Systems: OPEC Oil-Producing Countries

This study suggests a new method for analysing the behavioral economics issues in the framework of game theory. In this context, bounded rational agents interact with one another in a strategic manner. Therefore, conventional economic modeling techniques are unable to explaine this kind of interactions. In this regard, evolutionary game theory and agent-based modeling are known as the most suit...

Group Decision Making based on a New Evaluation Method and Hesitant Fuzzy Setting with an Application to an Energy Planning Problem

In recent two decades, countries focused on minimum extraction of fossil fuels and utilized the renewable energies based on countries' policies and the environmental considerations. Thus, choosing the best renewable energy alternative is a significant role to investment on them. Among the classical decision approaches that have used in the literature, the hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs) theory is ap...

Organizational Learning and Knowledge Spillover in Innovation Networks: Agent-Based Approach (Extending SKIN Framework)

In knowledge-based economy, knowledge has a public good and non-rivalry nature. Firms build their own knowledge stock not only by means of internal R&D and collaboration with partners, but also by means of previously spilled over knowledge of other firms and public research laboratories (such as universities). Firms based on their absorptive capacity, and level of intra-industry and extra-indus...

Agent-Based Computational Economics - An Introduction

Terming a specific approach to economics agent-based may appear paradoxical. Isn’t human behavior the foundation of economics and shouldn’t all economic theory be based on agents behavior in some sense? This, at least, is what conventional economic theory has been claiming since the 1970’s. In this introduction we shall argue that agent-based computational economics (ACE) allows agents and espe...
